Speaker Series – Preserving Your Family History with Tammy Pelton

Tammy Sloan Pelton, a member and past President of the Ashland County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogy Society, is an enthusiastic genealogist that enjoys teaching others how to get started preserving your family heritage. She also has some great tips on how to preserve those family heirlooms.
Tammy was born and raised in Ashland, Ohio. She and husband Kevin raised their three daughters in the northern part of Ashland County in the Mapleton School District where she served on many committees and boards, including six years with the Mapleton School Board.
In 2017, her interest in genealogy began. Her passion is creating special family events and passing along her heritage finds to her family. Events have included a 20 Sloan member charter bus trip to Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Ashland County family cemetery walks, and Family Reunions with as many as 115 in attendance. She has been very successful in managing and using Family Facebook groups to reconnect distant family members.
