Ever wonder what the process is to nominating your own home to the National Register of Historic Places? Join the Ashland County Historical Society Museum Specialist intern Ashley Denbow as she shares her own experience. Ashley has been with the 
historical society since January 2026, and is currently completing her B.A./M.A. in History-Public History from Ohio State University. She will give some tips and lessons learned along the way to help you navigate the process from a researcher’s perspective.

Signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson on Oct. 15, 1966, the Act has proven instrumental in transforming communities from coast to coast, establishing the legal framework and incentives to preserve historic buildings, landscapes and archaeological sites. It drives economic revitalization by attracting investment, supporting small business, stabilizing neighborhoods and creating jobs.
